Tea of the Week-24 Days of Tea Edition-Part 3

Merry Christmas! I thought a fitting Christmas post would be the final reviews of David's Tea's 24 Days of tea. Today I will be reviewing teas 17-24. Here we go!

Day 17-Organic Peppermint Armor

Before this tea I thought I wasn't a big fan of peppermint but there is something about this peppermint tea that I really enjoy. Maybe its that it's just peppermint. Yup, that's the only ingredient. It's really nice.

Day 18-Organic Silk Dragon Jasmine

I am not a big fan of this tea to be honest. But I do think that it tastes better than it smells. It is a Chinese green tea from Jiangxi and Fujian Provinces. It is scented with jasmine. To me it tasted really perfume-y.

Day 19-Organic Cream of Earl Grey

I was really looking forward to this one, and I have to say I was a little disappointed. I think the problem was I was expecting earl grey tea. I'll have to try it again with some sweetener and milk.

Day 20-Apple Custard

I loved this tea. It's nice and apple-y and light. I am definitely going to be buying more with some of the Christmas money I got! Apple Custard has apples, golden raisins, coriander and chamomile in it. I'm a big fan and I would highly recommend this tea.

Day 21-Lime Gelato

I was a big fan of Lime Gelato as well. It's citrus-y  and sweet and I think I will buy more of it sometime in the future. It has apple, sencha green tea, pineapple, lemongrass and lime flavoring.

Day 22-Sleigh Ride

I had sleigh ride last year and it was so good. I'm really glad they included sleigh ride in the 24 days of tea. I like the comforting spices in it.

Day 23-Eggnog

Ever since the Holiday tea's came out at David's tea I've been wanting to taste eggnog tea. When I first tried this tea I was a little disappointed, since it didn't taste exactly like eggnog. What this tea does taste like is the spices in the eggnog. If you add a little milk to this tea it is absolutely delicious!

Day 24-Santa's Secret

Santa's Secret was my favorite tea from last year. It was a great way to end off the 24 days of tea. It's a minty black tea with little mini candy canes!

I loved this Advent Calendar. There were a lot of surprises. And I loved getting to try all these awesome tea's! Which one would you want to try if you had the chance? Leave a comment!!

Tea of the Week-24 Days of Tea Edition-Part 2

I completely lost track of how many days had gone by and I forgot to write about the second 8 teas that I tried in David's Teas 24 Days of Tea. If you missed part one you can find it here.

Day 9-Genmaicha

I was nervous to try this one. I went to twitter and didn't see many good reviews about it. It's a green tea with toasted and popped rice. But I was surprised when I tried it because I really liked it. It tasted kind of similar to Movie Night (probably because of the popped rice/corn mixed with green tea). I found this one pretty tasty for such simple ingredients.

Day 10-Bubbie's Baklava

Bubble's Baklava is one of my favourites out of this group of eight. Its a oolong tea with roasted chicory root, pineapple, papaya, cinnamon, walnuts, apple, ginger, roasted almonds, cardamom, rose pepper, pistachios and rose blossom. I found this one really flavourful and comforting.

Day 11-Organic Mother's Little Helper

I can totally see having this tea at night to wind down. It's a super relaxing herbal tea, similar in taste to Organic Sweet Dreams. But the peppermint gives it a really nice flavor. I think I might get this tea once I run out of Organic Sweet Dreams.

Day 12-Crème Caramel Rooibos

This tea is as delicious as it sounds! It's Rooibos tea with caramel pieces. I will probably buy more of this one when it comes time for me to stock up my tea collection again. It's nice and sweet but not too sweet. Highly recommended.

Day 13-Read My Lips

I tried this tea as part of the Sweetheart's collection back in February and I wasn't a big fan back then. But something must have changed because I really like this one! It's a black tea with peppermint, chocolate, pink peppercorns and little sprinkles in the shape of lips! I love the minty chocolate-y flavour. This tea will definitely be a contender next time I stock up on tea

Day 14-Sugar Plum Forest

I was not a huge fan of this tea. It has a very strong cinnamon flavour. But the kind of cinnamon flavour you find in those cinnamon hearts for Valentine's Day. Which I'm really not a big fan of. This tea was nice, but not for me.

Day 15-Buddha's Blend

This tea is part white tea, part green tea and has jasmine pearls and white hibiscus blossoms. I haven't had much luck with white tea's in the past but this one was pretty good. I think I still prefer herbal and black tea's though.

Day 16-Main Squeeze

I believe this is one of the only Mate teas in the 24 days of tea. It has a lot of caffeine and smells amazing. Very fruity. I think I might get more of this one in the future. I'm a big fan.

There you go! Day 8 through 16! Which one of these teas would you want to try? Let me know in the comments!

Currently (11-20-14)

Dancing... In the car to Taylor Swift. I'm still LOVING her new album. I don't know if I will ever get sick of it.

Cooking... from the cookbook Mennonite Girls Can Cook! So far everything I've tried in this cookbook has been a winner! Andrew really likes the meatloaf (and I do too!) and my favourite recipe is probably the cheese scones. If you are looking for a good cookbook, this one is really great.

Losing... A pair of tights I bought for this weekend. I bought them to wear under my dress, but I can't remember where I put them. I guess this means one of my jobs on Saturday will be to tear apart my room until I find them, since I'm going to Andrew's work Christmas party with him on Saturday. We also have another Christmas dinner, Christmas Eve service and a wedding to dress up for. SO I decided that I required a new dress. And those tights. And shoes.

Clearing... Out space on my VM at work. It's being really slow lately, usually that's mainly a lack of space, so I've been trying to go through it and delete the unnecessary files. For some reason though this problem keeps coming back... Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out soon.

Sharing... Snacks with my work! We had our Christmas open house yesterday and I made two different types of goodies to share. They went over pretty well, but I probably could have just brought one thing. We had so much food!

Tea of the Week-24 Days of Tea Edition-Part 1

This weeks tea of the week is actually 8 different teas! My mom gave me the 24 days of tea as a gift for advent. So each day I open up one of the flaps and get to try a new kind of tea I love it so much I thought I would share it with you by telling you my opinions of all the different teas I get to try! Let's dive right in.

Day 1-Forever Nuts

I've had forever nuts before (it was actually one of my first teas I ever featured in a tea of the week). I love this tea. I love the sweet almond-y flavor and I was super excited when I opened this tea up on day number one.

Day 2-Organic Vanilla Chai

This tea kind of reminded me of Maple Sugar. I really liked it. It has cinnamon, black tea, licorice root, ginger and vanilla. Andrew tried a bit of this one as well and he really enjoyed it (which is kind of a shock since he doesn't really like tea very much)

Day 3-Quangzhou Milk Oolong

I was really skeptical about this tea. It doesn't have a super strong smell and in the past I haven't really been a fan of oolong tea. However, this one was really nice. It was comforting in the same kind of way as I find an earl grey or an English breakfast tea. Not any super flashy flavours, but still really nice.

Day 4-Pink Flamingo

I have been dying to try this tea, but for some reason I never got around to trying it out. I was so excited when I opened up this one. And I was really impressed. Pink Flamingo definitely lived up to my expectations. It's nice and tart, but not so tart that it needs sweetener. Definitely two thumbs up.

Day 5-Organic Detox

Those of you who know me know I am not a health nut. I generally avoid anything with the word detox in it. So I was scared to try this one. But it really wasn't that bad. It had nice flavours, but it's not something I would go out of my way to have.

Day 6-Coco Chai Rooibos

This one was delicious. It tasted kind of Christmas-y to me, it would be perfect with a little bit of milk added to it. In addition to Rooibos, it has cinnamon, ginger, coconut flakes, cloves, pink peppercorns and cardamom. I was very impressed and surprised by this tea. I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I did.

Day 7-English Breakfast

English Breakfast is my favourite kind of black tea. And I've always wanted to try David's Tea's blend of English breakfast but I never got around to buying any. I definitely think I will in the future though.

Day 8-Cocomint Cream

This one is definitely my favorite so far. I plan on buying more of this one for sure! It has apple, coconut, sweet blackberry leaves, peppermint, and spearmint. I was really surprised by how much I liked the coconut flavour in this tea. I would HIGHLY recommend you try this one if you can.

There you go. My review on the first eight teas from the 24 Days of Tea! I'm so excited for what the rest of this collection has in store.

Which tea out of these would you want to try? Leave a Comment!

Tea of the Week-Salted Caramel

I bought this weeks tea of the week a while ago, when I had decided I wanted more Pumpkin Chai and Sweet Apple Cider from the fall collection. I ordered it online instead of going to the store and I've got to say I was extremely happy with my experience. My order came quickly and I even got three free samples! I have one more sample left to try, and I'm going to blog about it when I try it. The only bad thing about ordering it online was that when it arrived at my house, the contractors who were working on our kitchen floor moved the box to the counter... And then proceeded to put cement on the floor! I wasn't supposed to walk on the floor for a whole day! It was a real crisis... So I put down some plywood and walked on the floor anyways :) A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

This weeks tea of the week is Salted Caramel by David's Tea. It's a sweet black tea with English Toffee, Caramel, Coconut and Sea Salt. I find this tea super comforting, especially now that the weather has really cooled off around here. I love that the flavours aren't too loud, but more subtle, in a good way. This tea is perfect with a little bit of milk, and it's sweet enough that you don't need any extra sweetener. Definitely a thumbs up in my book!

Currently (11-20-14)

Finding... Different ways home from work. The road have been so bad where I live and people just seem to forget how to drive once snow hits the road. So I've been taking back roads to avoid the major slowdowns.

Writing... Grocery lists! I feel like such a grown up now that Andrew has the apartment and he lets me shop for the food. I actually love grocery shopping. Maybe it's the pushing the cart part that I like. I'm not quite sure. Either way I'm having fun.

Dressing... Up. Well, I will be dressing up, later in December. I'm going to a couple Christmas events as well as a wedding in December. So I decided I need a new dress... and shoes.

Thinking... A lot at work. I haven't had much to do so far this week at work, next week will be busier. But mostly I've been just thinking about wedding things this week.

Beginning... Work on the dresses! I'm actually over half-way done one of the dresses (Rose's Dress!) They are turning out AWESOME so far. I'm so happy with how the fabric looks and I can't wait for Rose to try her dress on this weekend!

Tea of the Week-Snickerdoodle

This is the last tea in the fall collection... I'm so sad that I am running out of all these great teas. The fall collection was so great, I liked all of them, Which rarely happens when it comes to teas I get in collections. This weeks tea was actually the first tea I tried when I opened up the box. I almost ordered 100 grams of it, but in my opinion Sweet Apple Cider and Pumpkin Chai beat it out.

Snickerdoodle is a really sweet tea that has brittle pieces, cinnamon, and monk fruit. I'm a big fan of it and I'm a little sad that I'm currently drinking my last cup of it. Maybe it will come back next year. I love thats it's caffeine free and has a really warm and comforting flavour to it. Perfect for fall!

Also, take a look at these awesome pictures I can take now with the new lens Andrew got for me! I'm loving how close up I can get now.

Tea of the Week-Maple Sugar

This weeks tea of the week is again from David's Tea's Fall Collection. I've been so happy about this collection and I am so happy I went for it and bought the whole collection instead of just one or two kinds from the collection. I like every single tea in this collection.

This weeks tea is Maple Sugar. It's a sweet black tea that has Apple, Cinnamon, and Maple Syrup pieces! It's so tasty. If it wasn't caffeinated I would drink it more at night, but since it has quite a bit of caffeine I usually just have it on the weekends. This tea tastes great with a little bit of milk added to it but it definitely doesn't need any sweetener. It must be the maple syrup in it. I love it! If you have the chance (I'm not sure how much longer this tea will be available, since they are bringing out their Winter Collection now!) you should definitely give this tea a try!

Another thing I want to tell you guys about is my new tea shelf! My dad made this for me for the apartment and I love how it turned out. I spray painted it blue since we had left over spray paint and it matched out kitchen perfectly! It works so well and has space for 24 David's tea tins! As you can see it isn't full right now, Guess this means I'll have to go buy more sometime!

Committing... Code at work! I've gotten the chance to do some more development at work. It's really exciting.

Loving... This guy right here. Tomorrow is our four year anniversary. FOUR YEARS! That's crazy.

Organizing... My plan for November 5th. It's take-your-kid-to-work-day in my school region and I am going to be taking my best friends sister to work with me! No, she isn't my daughter, but her parents are going away on a awesome vacation and so I volunteered to take her to work with me. I'm organizing all of the stuff I am going to show her about my job! I'm really excited about it.

Watching... Survivor! Andrew and I found out that it is currently on rogers on demand and we decided to start watching it. It's so addictive.

Shopping... For tea! My all time favourite tea came back to Davids Tea for a limited time! So naturally I bought 500 grams... Stay tuned for that tea of the week (it won't be for a few weeks, since it still needs to ship to my house) in the future!

Tea of the Week-Yes We Cran

This weeks tea of the week is a tart cranberry and spice tea. It's called Yes We Cran (one of the best names ever!) and it's made by David's Tea. I got this tea as part of their fall collection and I really enjoy it! Some of my favourite things about it are that it's caffeine free and that it's tart. I'm a pretty big fan of tart teas, which I know is not everyone's favourite by when I get in the mood for it, this is definitely the tea I reach for. It has hibiscus, cranberries, rosehips, apples, and cinnamon and has a deep rich red/pink colour when steeped. I love it, and you should definitely give it a try if you get the chance.

Currently (10-23-14)

Someone in last weeks currently post requested a picture of the chair cushion I made, Here it is! I glued velcro to the back of it to keep it stuck properly to the back of the chair.

Anticipating... The weekend! I am really excited to just relax this weekend and hopefully get caught up on some picture taking for tea of the week. I spend a lot of my time at Andrew's apartment and it gets quite dark at night, which is definitely not ideal for picture taking. I promise I will get caught up soon!

Contributing... Lot's of my opinions at work. I've had the opportunity to take part in several meetings about a feature I tested. I love the feeling of importance I get when people ask me questions about how it works and I know the answer.

Discussing... Options for the bridesmaids dresses. The overlay that I was planning on using is NOT cooperating, so I'm going to try a new kind of fabric. Hopefully it will work out.

Listening... To the first few songs of Taylor Swifts new album! I have to say I love it so far! I can't wait to hear the rest of it on the 27th.

Deciding... What courses to take next semester. I don't have a lot of required courses left to take, so I have lots of electives to choose. I'm thinking of a geography class and maybe a childhood, youth and family studies class. I love that I have the opportunity to take electives from other programs

DIY: Photo Save The Dates

I love save the dates. I think they are so cute and adorable. But I hate how expensive some of them can be. Today I am going to show you how we made 125 save the dates for under $30.

You Will Need:

-Pictures (on your computer)
-Picmonkey (or other photo-editing software)
-Shutterfly (or some other way to print out the photos)

Instructions:

1) Using picmonkey, edit your photo, make a collage, add text, anything you want really. Make sure you photo is sized correctly so it will be able to be printed. Here are the standard photo-printing sizes. I also found this tutorial extremely helpful with all of the resizing and other useful picmonkey information

The finished product!

2)Save you edited picture and upload it to shutterfly. If you haven't signed up for a shutterfly account already you can get 50 4x6 printed photos for free! We signed Andrew up for an account since I already had one. Make sure you the photo will be entirely printed and that nothing is cropped out. You can do this by clicking the preview link in shutterfly.

3) Select the number you need, Order your save the dates and wait for them to come in the mail!

It is really easy. If you find a save the date that you like you can even copy the design for most of them! It just takes a little time to get things perfect. I am so happy with how ours turned out and doing them this way probably saved us about $100, since the ones I liked were over a dollar each!

Leave a comment if you have any questions!

Appreciating... The sneak peeks from our second round of engagement photos! I can't wait to see the rest! Check out Robyn our photographer!

Feeling... Relaxed. The apartment is starting to look and feel like a home. I'm so excited with how it is coming together

Looking... For a cake baker. It's one of the last vendors we need to book for the wedding. It's all coming together!

Regretting... Not getting the proper cushion from ikea for our chair. I made one but right now it's not really staying up. It keeps flopping over, so I'll need to make some adjustments to it. It will be awesome when it's finished though.

Playing... Runescape! Fun fact for you, I used to be crazy into runescape. This past weekend I played it with Andrew and his brothers again and it was so much fun! So I've been getting into playing it again

Tea of the Week-Sweet Apple Cider

In this weeks tea of the week I'm going to tell you about my second favourite tea from David's tea's fall collection. It's called Sweet Apple Cider. Obviously the main ingredient in this tea is apples but it also has sweet blackberry leaves and vanilla. I love it. I've been looking for a really comforting caffiene free herbal tea to drink this fall, and this is definitely it. I love drinking this after work under a blanket while watching tv. Even Andrew likes it! So it must be fantastic. This tea and the Pumpkin Chai tea I told you about last week are the teas I chose to buy more of from the Fall collection. I'm going through them so quickly I'm thinking I'll have to get some more before long!

Reading... The Story and Sacred Marriage. Our church is reading through the book called "The Story" this year and so far I haven't missed a week of reading the chapter in advance. But I missed church last week because I stayed up late Saturday night trying to finish reading the chapter and then I accidentally slept through both my alarms on Sunday morning. Opps. I'm really liking the book though. I'm also slowly working my way through the book and I love it. I'm hoping to be able to read more of it this weekend

Thinking... About turkey. This weekend is Thanksgiving weekend for us Canadians, so I'm really looking forward to see both mine and Andrew's family and eating some delicious food. I'm going to Sarnia on Saturday morning and spending a few days with Andrew's Family there. Then we are going to have Thanksgiving with my family in Tillsonburg. I'm really excited.

Feeling... Very happy. I'm super pumped about the apartment, I love arranging and organizing things just the way we want them. It

Eating... Apples and peanut butter. For some reason I have been really loving this snack lately. I got some delicious Honey Crisp Apples at the grocery store earlier this week and I'm thinking I'll need to go back an get some more. They were that good.

Dreaming... About graduating university. I can't wait to be done and be working full time. Unfortunately that is a few years away yet. But I'm half way done!

Tea of the Week-Pumpkin Chai

Before I dive into this weeks tea of the week I want to shine the spotlight on one of my favourite blogs! Melissa from Purpsicle started writing a tea of the week too! Check out her first one!

This weeks tea of the week is part of David's Tea's Fall collection! I have to admit, I went and bought this collection the day it came out. I got the email in the morning and I convinced Andrew to take me to David's Tea that night. I might be a little obsessed. I am actually so happy with the fall collection. I love all of the tea's and I can't wait to share them with you.

The first tea I am going to tell you about is Pumpkin Chai. This one is my favourite out of the five tea that came in the fall collection. This black tea has cinnamon, cloves, caramel and little sprinkles shaped like pumpkins! It is so delicious! This tea really screams fall. I loved it so much that I bought 100 grams of it online! I hope this lasts me a while (but I feel like it won't)

What's your favourite tea this week?

Watching... The Leafs play the Senators! Andrew is a big hockey fan and I've been trying to watch more hockey because I know he like it. I'm really starting to get into it. I'm actually watching it by myself right now. I surprise myself every day with trying new things...

Learning... How to relax. I'm at a bit of a lull in the wedding planning process. There isn't a lot I can do right now, so I'm trying to take this time to relax. This is proving to be difficult. I've been working constantly (or trying to) for the past 11 months and so it's difficult to remind myself to take a break and not think about things for a while. I'm getting better though!

Considering...Whether to but a couch or a sectional. Andrew and I are going the week we get the apartment (NEXT WEEK!!!) to get a couch. Right now I am leaning towards getting a sectional. I think if we have enough room it would be great to have the extra seating!

Needing... To go see the chiropractor. My back has been getting worse the past few days. I'm not in as much pain as I have been in in the past, but I think it's something that visiting the chiropractor would help with.

Changing... My morning routine! My parents are renovating our kitchen! So right now all the floors are torn up and almost all our kitchen stuff has moved to the basement. Making my coffee in the morning is a little more challenging right now, but thankfully it's only temporary.

Calling... No one really, But I am texting two of my bestest friends Katelyn and Marilyn and making plans to see them this weekend! I haven't seen either of them in a long time so I'm looking forward to catching up with them.

Loving... Getting things for our apartment! I got curtains on clearance from Target and we bought a TV! Things are really coming together and I'm so excited that Andrew will be moving into the apartment in less than two weeks!

Eating... Almonds actually. Andrew and I went to bulk barn and I got some trail mix with some almonds in it. I was really surprised when the almonds were my favourite part. I'll have to go get some more sometime.

Riding... In Andrew's truck again! It had to get a lot of maintenance done recently so we were using a loaner car in the mean time. We're happy that we got the truck back and that the work didn't cost too much money.

Wishing... That the weather could be like this all the time! I went on a walk last night with Andrew and it was so beautiful out! I LOVE this weather, and I hope it sticks around for a while.

Falling... More and more in love with this weather every day. I love fall and I am so excited that it seems to be just around the corner.

Wearing... Sweaters, Flannel Plaid Shirts, and Jeans! I love this fall weather!

Making... A garter for the wedding! I found this lace at Michael's and the green ribbon at walmart... 30 minutes later the garter was finished! I'm so happy with how this one turned out.

Smiling... Because it's almost the weekend! And I'm getting a haircut tomorrow (finally). There are lots of things to smile about this week.

Learning... So much at work! I'm loving my job and it's making me so excited to graduate in a few years.

Loving... The two days of vacation I have today and tomorrow! I took two days off work so I can go to thepianoguys concert with my family tonight! I am so excited to see them! Not going to lie, I'm probably going to cry with excitement at some point today.

Craving... A Pumpkin Chai Tea Latte! I recently got the fall collection from DavidsTea and I can't wait to try Pumpkin Chai as a tea latte! Stay tuned for some exciting new fall tea's of the week!

Demanding... Coffee. or at least it felt like I was demanding my coffee this morning. The Tim Hortons in my town tends to be slow and this morning I felt like I was yelling at them when I was placing my order in the drive thru. Hopefully I didn't sound too mean. But sometimes the only way that your order will be correct is when you raise your voice.

Questioning... My parents on how to organize everything for our new apartment. I'm learning so much from the wisdom they are passing on to me.

Worrying... About wedding things. I shouldn't be though. I know I have everything under control. Sometimes I look at the whole picture of our wedding day and get overwhelmed with all that needs to still be done. I forget how much I have already finished and that i have a plan on how I'm going to get the rest of it done.

Tea of the Week-Root Beer Float

This weeks tea of the week is yet another iced tea! Recently David's Tea had a sale on a lot of their summer tea and tea accessories so obviously a trip to david's tea was a must! I picked up a root beer float pitcher pack since it was under three dollars! Root Beer float is a medium caffeine black tea. I love the cinnamon and white chocolate flavour. I'm curious as to how this tea would taste hot but the pack I bought only had enough for one pitcher. As you can see from the picture I don't have much left, but I might try the last glass as a tea-pop! That's when you add sparkling water to the iced tea. I had a tea pop in david's tea once because I got a free cup of tea with my Frequent Steeper card and the salesperson recommended it and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm really glad I bought root beer float. It's one of those really fun teas that come out every once in a while. I highly recommend you try it!

What's your favourite tea this week?

Currently (14-08-14)

Searching... For more tea! I'm running out of tea both at home and at work. I think I might wait until fall and see what fall teas either Bentley tea house in Fergus or David's tea have. Either way if you have any suggestions let me know!

Wearing... The last pair of pants I have that are clean. Don't worry, I put laundry in tonight so I'll have more pants for work tomorrow.

Needing... To work on the bridesmaid dresses. I really want to make all the bridesmaids dresses and I have the patterns and fabric, I just need to cut them out and start sewing. Unfortunately cutting out the fabric is my least favourite part of the dress making process, so I've been putting it off for a long time. Hopefully this weekend will be productive and I will be able to get all the dresses cut out!

Moving... A little slower. I worked some overtime earlier this week and my back is really talking back to me now. I'm sure it will go away soon, but it's making me walk and move a lot slower than normal.

Eating... Lots of Peanut Butter and Jam sandwiches. We haven't had too many leftovers this week and I'm not a fan of lunch meats. I don't mind. I love my peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches. You have to put peanut butter on both sides of the bread though, so the jam doesn't soak the bread.

My Wedding Shoes + My Something Blue

Today I am going to share with you a small detail of my wedding outfit. Yellow is my favourite colour so I decided to go with a bold colour for my wedding shoes. I saw the idea of tying a blue ribbon around the heel of your shoe on pinterest and I thought it was just so cute. So I did it. I'm so excited to wear these on our wedding day!
