July Report Card

Hello again! At the beginning of the month I linked up with Kelli from She Learns as She Goes and Blimeycow and today I am going to update you on how these goals went. Unfortunately they did not go well. But I am proud of how much I did get done this month, it's just not reflected through these goals.

#blimeycowphotoaday: B-

I loved this. But I didn't participate every day :(. Oppsy.

Read One Book: F

I got to page 12 of the third Harry Potter book. GAH. Oh well. Someday I'll finish it.

Improve on Bible Reading: B

I actually did a little better on this in July. I'm not reading my bible as much as I would like to though. I'll have to keep working on this.

Summer Bucket List: A+

I actually crossed 9 things off my summer bucket list this month! Yay me!

Overall Grade: C

Not that bad, not that good. Hopefully August goes better.

DIY Gift Idea: Today I Have Loved You For Card

This past Saturday was a bit milestone for Andrew and I. As of June 27th, 2013 we have been dating for 1000 days. To celebrate I surprised him with Tim Hortons coffee and this card:

I got the idea for this card from this pinterest pin, but I didn't want to buy the card and pay for shipping. Even though the cards are absolutely b-e-a-utiful! So I used microsoft word and printed the card out onto cardstock. Andrew really liked it. He had no idea that we had been dating for 1000 days so it was a complete surprise! His face lit up! It was awesome to see. I love that boy :).

Do you celebrate little milestones in your relationships?

I'm A Geek?

My mother pointed it out recently when she asked me "Sarah, what are you doing tonight?" and I replied with "Well, A new minecraft update just came out, so I'm probably going to spend my evening playing that." and she said "Wow, my daughter is a geek. Where did I go wrong?"

Then at work the next day I thought to myself, hmm, what does being a geek actually mean? So I googled it. And here is what I found:

geek  /gēk/

Noun
  1. An unfashionable or socially inept person.
  2. A person with an eccentric devotion to a particular interest: "a computer geek".
Ouch. I happen to think I'm pretty great. I wouldn't classify myself as a geek, maybe more of a nerd. Hmm. Let's google nerd:

nerd  /nərd/

Noun
  1. A foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious: "one of those nerds who never asked a girl to dance".
  2. An intelligent, single-minded expert in a particular technical discipline or profession

Wow, neither of those definitions sound to great. I think I might actually go with the geek definition, but the second option. A person with eccentric devotion to a particular interest "A Computer Geek". And now, I present to you, some of the things that make me a geek:

I watch videos like this for fun and to improve my minecraft house.

I solve rubik's cubes for fun, and I have many various rubik's cube things. My camp name is Rubik's and rubik's cubes are definitely high on my list of things that are the best.

Speaking of things that are the best, Star Trek is pretty amazing. I used to watch it with my parents and I really like it. I'm hoping to one day watch all of The Next Generation series. That would be fun.

I also really enjoy coding things, make sense right? You know since my major in university is Software Engineering. I better like it. Depending on the assignment at school I can get really excited about it. For my first assignment this semester I had to create a program that would solve mazes for me. It turned out awesome! I was so interested in it all! It made the assignment much more fun to do. Anyways, the fact that I get this excited about coding things for school work makes me even more of a geek.

I'm also in school for a Bachelor of Computing with a major in Software Engineering and a minor in Geography, that just screams Geek Alert.

I work for a software company, and I really enjoy it!

So these are some of the things that make me a computer geek. But I'd like to think that I'm a geek in other ways too. Such as:

A sewing geek. I love sewing so much, I am so proud of myself when I finish a project. I love when people tell me "Your skirt is really nice" and I get to reply with "Thanks, I made it!" it makes my day.

I am also a photography geek. I love capturing moments in my life so that I can look back on them. I also love improving my pictures as I go.

I'm a TV show geek. I can get so hooked on a TV show. I love following the characters lives. I get kind of sad when the show ends. Maybe I'll have to write about some of my favourite TV shows in another blog post.

And Finally:

I'm a Geek for God. Or at least I'm trying to be. This is something that I want to constantly be working towards becoming more of a geek in. If that makes any sense at all. I love God and I want to follow Him with every part of me.

Why I Don't Wear Makeup

News Flash. I don't wear makeup.

This is my natural face
No photo-editing was used, Just to clarify
The only thing I do to my face is wash it, with some Clean&Clear stuff. I don't even know the name of it. My mom and friends have tried to get me to wear make-up. But its never stuck with me. I'm not against makeup at all. I think if it is used properly it can look really nice. But for me, I don't wear it. And here are a few of the reasons why.

It bugs my face.

I don't like the way it feels on my face. I feel like I have a mask on. It gets itchy, and then when I rub my face it smears everywhere. Not a good look. I also have sensitive skin, so I break out when I wear some kinds of makeup (don't ask me what kind, I honestly have no idea).

I'm not a makeup artist

I'm not even close! I've tried to put on makeup, I end up just looking like a mess. I find putting on makeup one of the most frustrating things ever, and there are some pretty frustrating things in this world.

It takes to long

Like actually. It takes SO LONG. I know what you're thinking, but you can only do a little, it will only take 5 minutes. The problem is, I don't have 5 minutes in the morning that I want to be spending on putting on makeup. I'd rather sleep for 5 minutes, or have breakfast at home instead of at work. For me, it's not worth the time, especially in the morning.

And finally...

It's Expensive!

It really is! 10 dollars for a tube of mascara! No thanks. I cannot afford it.

Again, this is just for me. I honestly don't care if other people wear makeup. That's your choice. This is mine, I hope you found this enlightening. and if you didn't I'm sorry, I'll try harder next time!

Happy Tuesday!

Summer Bucket List Update

Hey everyone! Here's what I've been up to this summer so far. In case you missed it I have a Summer Bucket List and I've been crossing things off of it. Here's an update:

Hike

I went on a hike with my family on the Canada day weekend. Here are a few pictures:

We found a turtle. Awesome adventure if I do say so myself

Frozen Yogurt

Andrew and I went to see Monster's University a couple weekends ago and we got frozen yogurt instead of popcorn. It was pretty good.

Finish 1 season of Gilmore Girls.

I've actually finished a couple seasons of Gilmore girls. I absolutely love it.

Outside Tea Date

Andrew and I went outside in his backyard for tea. I actually found a kind of tea that he likes! Orange Pekoe! I'm super surprised. It was a good time.

Watch Grease

Andrew and I also watched Grease, It was fun. I really like that movie.

McDonalds Ice Cream Date

Andrew and I went out for McDonalds Ice cream. He surprised me by buying me a happy meal toy. It's a Dispicable Me whistle. He knew I wanted it and told me to go find a table because he was buying the ice cream. And when he came back he had both the ice cream and the toy, it was super sweet.

Fireworks

I also saw fireworks recently to celebrate Canada Day. Here are some pictures:

I got a Yahtzee!

How is your summer going so far?

Summer Bucket List

I'd like to cross a couple things off of my summer bucket list this month, at least 4 would be ideal.

What are your goals this month?

June Report Card

June was tough, I am not proud of how I did on my goals, I wish I could have done better. However, I am really proud of how well I feel like I handled myself this month. Hopefully July will go a lot better. Here is how I did on my Monthly Goals:

Read My Bible & Do My Devotions: C

This went much better than it did in May, I'm going to continue working on this, I'm hoping to keep improving on this.

Keep up with School: A

This went really well. I've kept up with school and handed everything in on time this month. I'm proud of myself. I could work on not procrastinating so much though.

Blog Twice a Week: B+

This also went well, I'd like to blog a bit more and motivate myself to write more though.

Put Away Laundry: C

I ended up with 3 laundry baskets full of unfolded clothes in my room at one point. I did much better than in May, but I really should work on this more.

Read One Book: D

I didn't even start the third Harry Potter book. I did finish the second one. Oh well, I'll have to try again.

Overall Grade: C

This month was busy, hopefully July has better things in store. Make sure you check out Kelli's blog as I am linking up with her today!

Happy Monday!
